Ski Mounting Position Guide
At Poet Snow, our gear is the vehicle that allows you to carve moments into memories. To ensure your skis perform exactly as intended, balancing agility with stability, it is critical that your bindings are mounted at the correct factory-recommended position.
2025-26 Ski Mounting Specifications
The measurements below indicate the distance from the tip of the ski to the recommended boot centre.
Have a Certified Technician Complete the Mount
We strongly recommend having your bindings mounted by a certified professional ski technician. Proper mounting is essential for your safety and the longevity of your skis.
Locating the Mounting Center
To ensure the intended performance and feel of your Poet Skis, it is critical to align your bindings with the factory-specified mounting point.
The Mounting Crosshair
Each pair of Poet Skis features a laser-etched or integrated crosshair graphic located on the top sheet (see image).
Center Point
The horizontal line of the crosshair (see image) represents the Ski Center Mark. This is the recommended point where the centre of your boot (the "mid-sole" mark) should align.
Technical Specs
Directly below the crosshair, you will find the recommended drill bit size (e.g., Ø 4.1mm x 9.5mm) for the mounting screws to ensure a secure fit into the core.
Verification
Before drilling, ensure the crosshairs on both the left and right skis are aligned with one another to guarantee a symmetrical stance.
Mounting Tip
Because our skis are crafted with specialized materials like carbon fibre, always use the specified drill bit size and high-quality waterproof wood glue or epoxy to seal the holes and protect the wood core.
Step 1: Identify Your Ski Model and Size
Locate the model name and length printed on your skis. Poet Skis models include The Ballad, The Epic and others. The size is indicated in centimeters (e.g., 165cm, 170cm). This information is essential for finding the correct mounting position.
Step 2: Find Your Recommended Mount Point
Use the mounting charts below to locate your specific ski model and size. The mount point is measured from the tail of the ski to the boot center mark. All measurements are provided in centimeters for precision.
Step 3: Mark the Boot Center Line
Using a measuring tape, measure from the tail of the ski to the recommended mount point. Mark this location clearly, this is where the boot center line of your binding should align.
Step 4: Consider Your Skiing Style
The recommended mount point is optimized for all-mountain performance. If you prefer a more forward stance for aggressive skiing, consult with a technician about adjusting up to 1cm forward. For a more surfy, playful feel, consider mounting on the recommended line or slightly back.
Step 5: Have a Certified Technician Complete the Mount
Always have your bindings mounted by a certified ski technician. They will verify measurements, ensure proper binding release settings and confirm the mount is done safely and correctly.

The Factory Tune
Every pair of Poet Skis arrives with a professional-grade factory tune, meticulously prepared to ensure they are "slope-ready" the moment they leave our hands.
We hand-finish the edges to a 1degree side-angle and a 1degree base bevel.
Whether you are tracing lines through ancient cedars or carving undulating forms on the corduroy, our factory tune ensures your first run feels as fluid and poetic as the skis themselves.
Mounting FAQ
Common questions about mounting your Poet Skis. If you don't find your answer here, our team is always happy to help with specific technical questions.
Poet Skis are compatible with all standard alpine ski bindings. We recommend using bindings appropriate for your skiing ability and boot sole type (Alpine, GripWalk or touring). Always have a certified technician verify compatibility and set proper release values.
We strongly recommend having bindings mounted by a certified ski technician. Improper mounting can affect ski performance and, more importantly, your safety. A professional will ensure correct positioning, proper drilling and accurate release settings.
The charts include all current production sizes for each model. If you have a custom or older model ski not listed, please contact us with your ski model, size and serial number, and we'll provide the correct specifications.
The recommended mount point provides balanced all-mountain performance. For aggressive, hard-charging skiing, consider up to 10cm forward. For a more playful, surfy feel or primarily powder skiing, the standard position or slightly back works well. Discuss your style with your technician.
Most modern alpine bindings have a built-in delta (heel lift) of 0-4mm. For Poet Skis, we recommend using your binding's standard delta setting. Adjustments are typically rider preference, consult with your technician if you have specific requirements.
Remounting is possible but should be evaluated by a technician. If new holes are too close to existing ones, the ski's integrity may be compromised. Helicoil inserts or mounting plates can sometimes be used. Contact us before remounting to discuss your options.
